Market testing is in effect, resulting in the below tiered pricing. Learn more about it and what Tier you are in:

x

Tier 1 Service Area:  West Jordan, South Jordan, Midvale, Cottonwood Heights, and Sandy
Tier 2 Service Area:  everywhere else within Salt Lake County

Cheronimo is market testing demand for a low-cost, on-demand, delivered-to-your-door alternative for homeowners that prefer to do their own lawn care but have lost interest in shelling out hundreds of dollars to own all of the necessary equipment, cleaning it, repairing it, and storing it. Our theory is that there are homeowners out there that would gladly pay a small amount weekly or bi-weekly during the mowing season to rent a mower, trimmer, and blower, have it delivered to them when needed, hand it right back when done, and never again have to buy/clean/repair/store all of the equipment.

That test is taking place in what we call our Tier 1 Service Area, and it benefits from superior pricing based on what we would like to price the service at if demand proves strong. Those living in the Tier 2 Service Area receive the same exact service and equipment, but the pricing is at normal market rates.

The response that we get in the Tier 1 Service Area will drive whether or not to advance to Phase 2 of our testing, which would involve a substantial financial investment on our part to develop a specific proprietary technology that would allow us to expand the Tier 1 Service Area. Our fingers are crossed!

Frequently Asked Questions

(if your question is not addressed here, check the bottom of the home page)

  • Is a deposit required prior to the start of this service?  There are some unfortunate realities to modern society that we need to protect ourselves from, so we do require a pre-authorization on a credit or debit card of your choosing in the amount of $200.  This is simply a hold on that account for a set amount, but no money is actually withdrawn. Upon completion of service, that hold will be removed and you'll pay using your preferred means (cash, venmo, debit, or credit).
  • What does the Do-it-Yourself service entail?  We deliver to you a lawn mower, string trimmer, leaf blower, and more than enough battery capacity to complete your job. You'll be able to bag the lawn mower clippings, side-discharge them, or mulch them, and you can either use the mower's self-propel capability or push it manually. The string trimmer will come with plenty of string, and it's bump head will keep you continuously moving. Use the leaf blower to clean up sidewalks or driveways when you're done. We deliver this all to you at the date and time of your choosing, you crank out the work, you hand it all right back to us when you're done (don't even worry about cleaning it, we'll take care of that), and you go about your day.
  • What is "edge trimming" and is it necessary?  An "edge" is anywhere that grass stops and pavement or concrete begins. So, along driveways and sidewalks primarily. Edge trimming involves using an "edge trimmer", which is a specialized tool similar to a weed wacker but with a metal blade positioned vertically that digs down into the soil an inch or so. The edge trimmer is used along all edges to create a small but distinct separation between lawn and hard surfaces. It is by no means necessary, but we recommend it. Over time, your lawn will grow outward and over top of these edges. At the extreme end of allowing that to occur over decades, the grass will completely overtake the hard surface and you'd never know there was pavement there at one point.  Visual appeal is degraded, and poor visual appeal actually negatively impacts your home's value. So an easy way to boost the visual appeal of your yard, and thus your home's value, is to simply perform edge trimming.
  • How do I know how long it should take?  You can estimate this based on some averages.  This assumes normal mowing conditions though. If the grass is overgrown, mowing time increases considerably.  The average mowing pace for our customers is 125 sqft/minute. The average lot size for our customers is approximately 0.17 acres, or 7,405 sqft. Mowable area is typically far less than this because of the house foot print, driveway, walkways, garage, trees, bushes, trampolines, pools, etc. Average mowable area for our customers is 33% of the lot size, or 2,444 sqft. Take this assumed mowable area of 2,444 sqft and divide it by the average mowing rate of 125 sqft/min, and you get an estimated total mowing time of 19.5 minutes.  So....for you, a rough estimate could be calculated as follows:
Lot size (sqft) [if you have it in acres, just multiply by 43,560 to convert to square feet)
              x mowable area percent
              = mowable area (sqft)
Mowable area (sqft) / 125 = estimated mowing time
Another method of estimating the total mowable area is to use Google Maps or Google Earth. Both have measuring features that allow you to measure the square footage of specific areas on the map.  Either way, give yourself some wiggle room initially until you've got a formal average mowing time established. And if you plan to do some weed wacking with our included String Trimmer and/or cleanup with our included Blower, you'll want to make sure to allow time for that as well.
Lastly, keep in mind that these estimates are based on one week elapsing since the last mowing. The more overgrown the yard, the longer it takes to mow, trim, edge, clean-up, etc. It's really hard to put a number to that, but a very rough estimate would be 15% longer for every additional week since the last mowing beyond one week. So, for example, if it would take 30 minutes if done weekly, it might take 35 minutes if done every other week.
